Responsibilities
The City of Warsaw Transportation Department consists of 4 full-time employees who maintain the streets and sidewalks within the city limits.
This department either directly or indirectly keeps the approximately 25 miles of city streets in good condition by making necessary repairs by performing the following functions:
- Pothole repairs - Fixing damaged pavement to keep streets smooth and safe
- Right-of-way maintenance - Mowing grass, cutting brush, and keeping roadways clear
- Sign maintenance - Repairing and replacing street signs as needed
- Stormwater system upkeep - Maintaining and repairing storm drains to prevent flooding
- Street maintenance - Removing hazardous tree limbs, carcasses, trash and other debris
- Street striping & painting - Marking lanes, crosswalks, and traffic areas for visibility
- Street sweeping - Removing debris to improve cleanliness and drainage
- Vehicle maintenance - Maintaining city vehicles and equipment
During winter weather, our crews shift their focus to snow and ice removal to keep roads safe.
