Shortly following the completion of Phase I of the Steamboat Landing playground, the City of Warsaw conducted a survey to determine the community's thoughts of the new playground, plus what needs they would like to see addressed in Phase II.  As fate (or maybe luck) would have it, around that same time, a local resident approached the city about donating to a Phase II project in their family name. The Bibb family's offer was to match each dollar donated by the community.  The Bibb's commitment was up to $300,000, and through some outstanding fundraising efforts by many in the community, Phase II was announced as a $600,000 project!  

Based on the aforementioned survey, the community sought an even more age diverse playground area, shade structures and a restroom, and the City of Warsaw, along with the Bibb family and many others set out to do just that! 

Phase II for the Steamboat Landing playground at Drake Harbor was designed to be more inclusive to all age groups.  The meticulous combination of structures allows children to be both creative and active.  The Phase II design boasts over 27 imaginative play activities, highlighted by an impactful color scheme, and the required social, behavioral and physical skills, and communal activity development of today’s children.  

The design continued the "Missouri Belle" riverboat theme from Phase I and offers a rich partnership with the historic past of Warsaw’s Osage River Heritage, it's former stake to claim as the "Spoonbill Captial of the World", amongst many other aquatic and lake themed features!

Some of the highlights included in Phase II that help develop agility, balancing skills and core body strengths are:

• Various styles of log climbers and stepping pods
• Buddy Rocker
• Mini-city community helpers log cabin themed playhouse with a fish crawl tunnel
• Custom boat themed spring rider
• Custom log/rock themed ADA transfer point
• Big Kahuna bridge/climber
• Custom mushroom step/climber
• Custom frog climber
• One-of-a-kind 3D characters molded into playing surface

Combined with bridges, walkways, decks, and swings for continuous play as children travel from activity to activity, Phase II possesses over 7,500 square feet of play area!  Including the 2,500 square feet included in Phase I of the City of Warsaw's brand new Steamboat Landing playground, a whopping total of over 10,000 square feet of outdoor fun awaits residents and visitors alike!
